RISE Mzansi 2024 Candidates List

27 March 2024

Today, RISE Mzansi has published the lists of new leaders who have raised their hands to serve the people of South Africa in Parliament and the nine Provincial Legislatures. The majority of candidates do not come from politics, reaffirming that we are putting forward new, capable and ethical leaders who will build a safe, prosperous, equal and united South Africa in a single generation.

We were very deliberate about ensuring that our 19 lists represent the diversity of our country. Where possible, we have ensured a 50-50 split among women and men; geographic spread; skills and expertise; and age.

RISE Mzansi’s youngest candidate is RISE Mzansi Youth & Student Chapters Convenor, Lawrence Manaka (21), and the eldest being Thelo Botlhoko (72) of the North West province, with the majority of candidates being in their 30s and 40s.

Our Premier Candidates for Gauteng, Western Cape and KwaZulu-Natal, all under the age of 40, all appear at number one on the respective Province-to-Province lists, signalling a commitment to the residents of their respective provinces.

Gauteng Premier Candidate and National Chairperson, Vuyiswa Ramokgopa, is 38; Western Cape Premier Candidate, Axolile Notywala, is 35; and KwaZulu-Natal Premier Candidate, Nonkululeko Hlongwane-Mhlongo, is 36.

At the top of RISE Mzansi’s National-to-National list is National Leader, Songezo Zibi, who is 48-years-old.

When South Africans study RISE Mzansi’s lists they will see committed and new leaders in their diversity who are ready to serve; and who will, most importantly, remain accountable to their communities and the people of South Africa.

New leaders must work with and for the people in their communities.

The RISE Mzansi lists feature experienced and respected legal practitioners, accountants, engineers, senior public servants, community organisers, and business leaders who will greatly enrich the political environment, which is marked by a lack of leadership and recycled politicians who have made little to no impact in changing the lives of South Africans.

RISE Mzansi’s new leaders will be working in their communities daily, ensuring that the people of South Africa know that it is possible to build the country we all deserve, with a focus on:

  • Keeping families and their communities safe
  • Building an economy that creates jobs for all, including people over the age of 35
  • Ensuring there is food on the table of families and communities
  • Making sure all South Africans receive decent basic service
  • Ensuing the support of single mothers
  • Ensuring a system of accountability between the people and Members of Parliament and Legislatures

RISE Mzansi is the only political alternative that places people and their dignity at the centre of its politics.
